Snickérdoodlés











ingredients

  • 1/2 cup softened butter
  • 1/2 cup of shortening
  • 1 1/2 cups of crystallized sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
  • 1 teaspoon of baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon of salt
  • 4 tablespoons crystallized sugar (to roll the balls of dough)
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon (to roll up the balls of dough)


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
  2. Beat together butter, shortening and 1 1/2 cups sugar. Add eggs and vanilla and mix well.
  3. Add the fl0ur, cream 0f tartar, baking s0da and salt and stir until combined.
  4. Form dough balls with a spoon. I grease my hands with a cooking spray because the dough is slightly sticky. I also like to put a finished tray of cookies rolled in the fridge while I drive the second. Then, when you are ready to roll them in cinnamon and sugar, they are easier to handle.
  5. In a separate bowl, mix 4 tablespoons of granulated sugar and cinnamon. Roll the balls of dough into the mixture. Place the dough about 2 inches apart on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  6. Bake for 8 to 9 minutes (do not overcook!) Remove immediately (and carefully, with a good spatula!) Cookie sheets on a cooling rack to allow them to cool completely.
